Call for Applications from German participants: “Trilateral Peacetalks: Germany, Russia, Ukraine”, 01. – 04.05.2015, Berlin

CISS invites you to apply for participation in the “Trilateral Peace Talks” that take place in Berlin from May 1st to May 4th, 2015. Under the heading “Exploring common ground for genuine dialogue – Peace talks between Ukraine, Russia and Germany”, we gather participants from all three countries to discuss the conflict in Ukraine. Together with the Kiev-based Center for Democratic Renaissance and the Moscow Institute of World Economy and International relations, we intend to make a positive contribution to constructive dialogue by initiating inter-societal relationship between participants of the conference. We cover your accommodation and are currently securing further funding to make a financial contribution to your catering and travel expenses.

The peace talks feature cultural activities, workshops on conflict resolution conducted by experienced professionals, as well as presentations and discussions. The conference is split into three thematic clusters. In each cluster, participants alongside senior experts hold short presentations that are followed by a summary of results in working groups. Finally, we will present our findings to the public at an open “Citizen Talk”.

If you are 30 years or younger, have a demonstrated interest in politics and good command of the English language, we kindly invite you to send us your thematic proposal. Your proposal of max. 550 words should deal with ONE of the following topics and will serve as basis for your short presentation during the conference:

  1. Roots of the conflict
  2. Framing in the media
  3. Possible solutions to the conflict

Please send your English-language CV and proposal to peacetalks@ciss.eu by April 10th (we can only accept your application if you send us your proposal and CV in ONE document).

We are glad to have Prof. Irina Busygena, Oleksandr Palii and Prof. Dr. Peter W. Schulze as senior experts and are still awaiting the confirmation of the German parliamentarian Gernot Erler. The project is supported by the Foundation “West-Eastern Encounters” and the Hertie Foundation.

If you have any questions, please send an email to Yulia.Yarina@ciss.eu.
